A PEEK TO THE FUTURE WORLD OF THE JOURNALISM STUDENTS

Philippine Daily Inquirer is unquestionably the country’s most broadly read and circulated newspaper. It is the most read and most trusted source of truth and exposés.

The freshmen Journalism students of the University of Santo Tomas Espana, Manila, Philippines, went to the Philippine Daily Inquirer Office to have a tour on what’s happening in the number one daily newspaper of the Philippines.

They went there without renting any buses for Karlo Magracia, the Journalism society President stated that it will be much cheaper for them to commute rather than to rent a bus.

Some insights were given to the students to have a deeper knowledge about the company they might work with in the future.

It is distinguished by award-giving bodies like the Catholic Mass Media Awards, Anvil Awards and Jaime Ongpin Awards for Investigative Journalism, having over 200 awards and citations all in all.

Inquirer delivers news to the provinces very fresh. It also has over 130 provincial correspondents and four printing presses in Manila, Cebu, Laguna and Davao.

For almost 20 years of serving, the Inquirer has been reaping the results of their hard work. The leading survey companies said that Inquirer tops sales and readership. The ground-breaking quality of Inquirer also enthralls teenagers to read their newspaper for it also has special sections that can capture every teen’s attention.

On a busy place like MRT, inquirer also reaches the hectic schedule of people by a free paper called Libre, which had already won two Gold Quill Awards of Excellence.

The company also toured the students to its actual printing press. They are the first local newspaper to use organic soy-based ink, 100% recycled newsprint and have done the resizing of the paper saving a total of seven trees a day which, again, give them some special awards.

Their goal of making the everyday life of Filipinos become extraordinary on delivering quality news creates a big difference. Its commitment to bring “Balance news, fearless views” promises to remain persistent in all its stories.
